Workshop "Energy management systems in the Pulp-Paper Sector"

The WORKSHOP "Energy Management Systems in the Pulp-Paper Sector" was held at the headquarters of the Association of Manufacturers of Pulp and Paper AFCP, Buenos Aires on September 9, 2019.

The workshop was organised at the request of the AFCP, after a meeting held at its headquarters in July, within the framework of the dissemination of the Energy Efficiency project.
Claudio Terrés, president of the AFCP, gave a warm welcome to the participants of the workshop, highlighting the importance of an efficient and environmentally sustainable use of the energy.
Among the institutions and companies participating in the workshop, there were 10 companies represented by 17 general managers or directors, maintenance managers, technical managers, etc.
The SEN presented (Mariano Ramón-Coordinator of Design and Evaluation of Energy Efficiency Policies - Undersecretary of Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency) a justification of its interest in carrying out the project. On behalf of the Energy Efficiency Project, the expert Hilda Dubrovsky presented the project components and the results of the study carried out in the paper industry. Alejandra Romano (member of the industrial surveys team), answered questions about the surveys to be carried out in the framework of the BNEU.
José Luis Larregola,  expert in Energy Management Systems and member of the consortium that carries out the project, presented the concept of energy management systems, objectives and methodology, as well as the benefits of the implementation of an Energy Management Systems (SGEn) for the Pulp and Paper sector. Then he directed a participatory and group work ("The Inefficiencies Game"), on an exercise in the evaluation of efficiency measures to be applied in establishments with serious failures and deterioration in their equipment.
The results of the workshop have been positive, and the participation of the companies has been remarkable.
