1st Workshop for the identification of efficiency opportunities in large companies in the industrial sector

With a broad participation of multiple industrial branches representing the private sector, a workshop took place at the UIA headquarters to identify opportunities for the implementation of energy efficiency actions. The event was organized within the framework of the Energy Efficiency in Argentina project, financed by the European Union.

The objective of this workshop was to create a scope for discussion between the private sector and the technical team in charge of the elaboration of the proposal of the National Energy Efficiency Plan. The conversations tackled energy efficiency measures that could be implemented, the barriers faced, as well as experiences of measures implemented, motivations and results obtained.
The wide response of the business sector and the respective business chambers that represent them should be highlighted as they made very positive and constructive contributions to define and validate the priority industrial subsectors, to characterize and analyze technical measures and good energy efficiency practices and identify the barriers faced by different private actors to implement energy efficiency actions.
The event had a large attendance of sectors of broad economic and energy importance such as: Food and beverages, Aluminum, Cement, Red Ceramics, Iron and Steel, Metalworking, Pulp and Paper, Chemical and Petrochemical, among the most relevant.

It is noteworthy that the attendees thanked the opportunity to provide their opinion on the complexities they face to achieve the goals of lower energy intensity in their productive activities and the importance that their voice be considered when designing policies and strategies associated with an energy efficiency plan.

The objective of this workshop was to generate a scope for discussion between the private sector and the technical team in charge of preparing the proposal for the National Energy Efficiency Plan.
