Housing Energy Labeling Pilot concludes in Mendoza

The Housing Energy Labelling Pilot in Mendoza was officially closed on 25th October during an event at the Colegio de Arquitectos de Mendoza/ CAMZA. During the pilot test, 50 professionals participated in the training and 200 homes were certified in the cities of Godoy Cruz and Mendoza.

The pilot test was carried out in order to obtain data and optimize energy consumption in Argentina, one of the objectives of the project "Energy Efficiency in Argentina", financed by the European Union. The statistical data obtained on what, how and for what purpose energy is consumed will be used to make a diagnosis to implement a possible regulatory framework to improve energy efficiency.
The pilot includes Mendoza, Godoy Cruz, Bariloche, Tucuman and Salta.
The purpose of the training course on energy certification of domestic housing is to train professionals related to the construction sector to perform energy evaluations of domestic housing. Knowing the energy performance of a home in terms of requirements to meet the needs of air conditioning, production of hot water and lighting is essential when buying or renting a property. The training course includes information on the functioning of the national energy system, and concepts of physics which are addressed and applied to the study of energy flows in a house. The professionals carrying out the training course will upload the data of the house survey through a computer system, obtaining an energy label of the house. This label does not only provide a diagnosis of the current state, but proposes interventions to improve the efficiency of the building/house. Architects, engineers and master builders follow this 48 hours training course, divided into 8 days.
